I bring a sketchbook almost everywhere I go- to draw “on the fly” when the muse strikes. If you don’t follow through on those seeds of inspiration- you may loose it forever. Read more...

In my mind, art is about the process. I know-- the end result is important. The painting is finished, the sculpture stands on its space, the book someone flips pages to see, the collage with its layers complete, the invitation hand-created for the wedding, the new exciting experiment with its new results. Completion tells you where you came from and what you have learned. But it is the thoughts behind the steps taken, the decisions that led your hand to choose that over this, the questions that lead to new questions and maybe answers, the discoveries, failures, inspiration, and trip ups that satisfies me.

And the other part-- don’t forget about the “Oh, crap...” ‘s that happen. Sometimes, that’s the best part- hidden inside some unexpected accident- a new wonderful result. The rose with the thorn...

Texture, color, exquisitely balanced design- these pull my eye and I strive to capture that essence.

But really, its the journey, the process, the steps each day in life that makes it real to me. And I cannot imagine life without it.
